Design Now for Fall Landscaping

August 12, 2013 | By webadmin

We know August is one of those months where the last thing you might want to think about is your landscape. It's hot and many of us are enjoying family vacations. But did you know that fall is very best time of year to install new landscapes and plant in North Texas?  Many residents of Dallas have moved here from other states where spring planting is the norm; so it just seems natural that they should continue planting for the old climate they may be used to. Spring is when everyone rushes to the garden center, new gardens are built and new lawns put down. But, while we're all often motivated to plant and start new gardens in spring, the summer months can be tough for establishing new plants. Ask anyone in the landscaping or horticultur industry and they'll tell you: Fall is for planting!

PLAN

So if you think about it, August is the perfect time to start planning and designing a new landscape or a landscape refresh; just in time to start the installation during fall. Planting in fall gives your new plants a good eight months to put down new roots and get established before the onset of summer heat and drought. Temperatures are cooler and there is often more rainfall. These conditions make it much easier for plants to get established and thrive. It's also the best time for transplanting existing plants. So if there are specimens on your property that you'd like to save, but need to be moved, fall is the time. Planning now also means you'll be enjoying your new finished landscape in spring when the weather is beautiful, instead of tearing it up!

If you're thinking about a new landscape, adding an outdoor kitchen, pool or any other landscape facelifts, give us a call now, before you get tied up with the kids going back to school, or miss out on the perfect fall planting weather!
