Before and After: A landscape transformation

September 29, 2013 | By webadmin

Sometimes we know we're not happy with the look of our outdoor spaces. But it can be difficult for most people to visualize the potential of their existing patios or landscapes. That's where hiring a good designer or landscape architect can come in handy! We thought we'd show you one of our backyard transformations to give you a little inspiration.

In the following photos, you'll see that our customer had an exising patio space, but it didn't feel very inviting or relaxing.

As you can see form these "Before" photos, whlie there had been some original landscape plantings, but some had declined over time. Other areas simply had not been planted with the right varieties. While the patio offered a great private space to lounge, the area was simply uninspiring. We knew we could take this space and transform it into something really special for our customer.

Here are some "After" photos of the very same area. We added in a contemporary, but rustic, pergola to shade the patio area. We also incorporated a beautiful and soothing water feature using large pottery and stone.

The homeowners now have a beautiful stone patio that can really be shown off by the surrounding features and landscape. We worked to keep some of the existing plant material, but added many new plantings to create a lush, private and peaceful lounging garden. We think the space even looks much larger than it did before the renovation.

A stone pathway takes the owners through a walk of their private garden. Wouldn't you love spending your mornings and evenings here? If you have a less than inspiring space in your landscape you'd love to transform, just remember every space has potential!
