Save Water; Plant Bulbs

February 26, 2012 | By webadmin

DaffodilsBulbs are extremely hardy and are among the first flowers to dot the landscape with brilliant color in spring. Did you know you could also use them during summer and fall?

In general, bulbs need little care to thrive and can be left alone most of the year. Bulbs are quite easy to grow and give such beautiful garden color for very little effort. They require nothing but water for annual bloom, as they have developed a food storage ability. Even though they only bloom once a year, the leaves collect nutrients that provide for a burst of color each year.

Naturalized Bulbs that repeatedly bloom for multiple years in the spring include the hyacinth, daffodil, narcissus, crocus and iris or those that bloom in summer/fall such as rain lily, spider lily, day lily, etc.
