Soften A Wall - Design Tip

June 4, 2011 | By webadmin

Walk around the outside of your house; look at the walls of the house and any fencing around your property. Is there a spot on the walls or on the fence that is a focal point which could be softened with a climbing vine or a trellis? A focal point is an area you frequently see from the driveway as you approach your home or through a window as you look out into your yard.

This is one of the first things I look for when visiting a client’s property. It is a seldom used element in most landscapes; yet a powerful one. Think vertical; imagine greenery on the wall or fence. Most yards have at least one site that would benefit from a green climbing and blooming vine.
