Leaving Out Landscape Maintenance? It Will Cost You!

April 25, 2014 | By webadmin

The last thing anyone wants to do when they've invested a lot of time or money into a project is to let it fall apart after completion. Yet this is a common occurance when it comes to landscaping. Plants and gardens are not static; they are constantly changing and in need of upkeep to look their best. Just like not having a budget for your project can result in problems, so can the lack of a maintenance plan for your landscape once it's completed. To keep your outdoor living and relaxing spaces looking their best, good maintenance is key.

You have expectations of how your landscape should look; with the proper planning it can meet those expectations from season to season. Weeding, mowing, fertilizing and pruning are all necessary to keep plants not only beautiful, but in top health.

We employ these simple tips, plus many more, when maintaining your landscape:

Mowing: when you mow your turf too short, it makes it more susceptible to diseases and pests. Properly timed and executed mowing will keep lawns lush.

Fertilizing: Spring and fall are the primary times to fertilize the entire landscape. In between through the seasons, we feed specific trees and shrubs to keep flowers blooming and foliage beautiful. We also aerate and feed your turf in spring. Special organic soil building treatments are also applied to the lawn and landscape throughout the growing season.

Pruning: In late winter, roses must be pruned and perennials, grasses and groundcovers should be cut back in preparation for new spring growth.

Weeding: We devote time each month to weeding lawns and garden. Removing weeds and adding mulch gives the garden a tidy, finished look. Plus, hand-weeding in leu of spraying chemicals is a much more eco-friendly practice.

While you can do many of these tasks on your own – and learn how by keeping up with our blog – sometimes hiring a quality professional who understands your landscape as a whole care is a  convenient benefit.

Whether you do it yourself or hire a pro, maintenance must be done or you’ll find yourself with a disappointing and lackluster landscape. Need assistance maintaining your lawn and garden? Call us for a quote on year-round care.
