Quick Landscape Tip: Ground Covers

October 25, 2013 | By webadmin

Have an area of the landscape where you find it difficult to grow lawns or blooming plants? Maybe you have a large area under a shade tree or corner of the garden that is often ignored, but you still want it to look green adn lush? Ground covers are a great option and now is the time to plant!

To choose the right groundcover for your desired area, you’ll need to decide if you want something blooming, your preferred height, sun or shade, or if you need an evergreen plant or not. Here are a few of our favorites:

plumbago

All of these grounds covers will take sun to shaded conditions:  Vinca is a sprawling vine with purple flowers spring through fall; Ajuga is low-growing and semi-evergreen with purple flowers; heat tolerant perennial Plumbago sports bright blue flowers through summer. If you need something super-tough,  Mondo Grass and Liriope fit the bill, or fragrant, evergreen Asian Jasmine.
