A Case for Roses

October 31, 2013 | By webadmin

When we are planning and designing landscapes for our clients, we always take garden maintenance into consideration. We all want our gardens to be gorgeous and blooming, but we also want them to be easy to maintain and drought tolerant. How can we get the best of both worlds? Would you be surprised if we said “Plant a Rose Garden”? You shouldn’t. Did you know many roses are very well-suited to our North Texas climate? Antique varieties are very heat and disease tolerant. Plus, many will bloom in spring and bloom again in the fall.

Some of our favorite varieties include climbing rose ‘Lady Banks’, 'Knockout' shrub roses, Floribundas such as the coral-colored ‘Easy Does It’, the yellow ‘Julia Child’, and the 2009 All American Rose Selection winner ‘Cinco de Mayo’. Antique EarthKind roses such as 'Perle d' Or', 'Belinda's Dream', 'Marie Daly' and 'Mutabilis' are tough easy to grow rock stars in any Texas garden. Live in a smaller space? There are many roses that grow great in pots, including the many colors of the low-growing ‘Drift’ Series.

The key is making sure you have a full sun location to keep these blooming beauties in tip-top shape. Now is a great time to plant roses! If you need help selecting or planting, give us a call to schedule a consultation.
