Rain: It can slow down landscape maintenance.

The amount of rain we’ve gotten so far this spring in Dallas has been truly amazing. While we’re never going to complain about rain in Texas, there are some real issues that can be created by so much rain in such a short period of time. Soils become heavily saturated, which can lead to nutrient deficiencies and root suffocation. But there are also challenges created for your landscape maintenance crews which may not be as obvious.
When it rains heavily at night it will significantly slow down landscape maintenance tasks the next day. While it may not be raining during the day while we’re at a property, if it has rained overnight, we’ll be in for some extra work. When it comes to landscape maintenance equipment, simple mud can really slow us down. If you’ve ever tried to mow or dig in your soil when it’s really muddy, you probably know how difficult it can be. It’s never advisable to do a lot of digging or walking on very wet soil, as it can cause severe compaction. Wet grass can clog up mowers and weed-eating equipment and blowers can be rendered useless. When clean-up time arrives, it can take several extra hour a day to successfully clean each property and get all the mud cleaned off the equipment between jobs.
What does this mean for you as the customer? Well, unfortunately, it might mean a bit of a maintenance or work delay. Add a few extra hours on a day for mud-clean up may mean we have to push back our schedule.
So, even if the rain stops during the daytime, your landscape maintenance company may have to hold off a bit on regular grooming or other landscape tasks. The last thing we want to do is create a bigger mess in your yard!
